Spring cake

Uma mistura duplamente deliciosa: bolo e flores! Duas coisas de que gosto muito. Tal como gosto desta conjugação bem conseguida, num bolo de aspecto delicioso e simples. Conseguimos encontrar destes pratos por estas bandas, a decoração do bolo não tem grande técnica e o resultado final é lindo - as cores das flores combinam lindamente. Vamos, minhas meninas, gostava de ver fotografias de um destes bolos feito por uma das leitoras!

Cake and flowers: two things that I really love! And I like the happy combination in this simple and seemingly delicious cake. We can find these kind of cake-stands around here, the cake decoration doesn't seem that difficult and the final outcome is beautiful - I just love the color combo. Come on, girls, I would love to see photos of one of these cakes made by you!

Encomendei estas florzinhas e pedi para fazerem a bandeirola com uma mensagem doce. A qualidade da foto, enfim, mas é com luz da sala, não dá para grandes magias!... Bem, adivinhem onde penso usar este vaso...

I ordered these little flowers and asked to change the lettering on the banner to "Sweet Valentine". The photo isn't that good, but I took it with artificial light, so there's no sparkle in it!... Well, guess where I'm planning to use this vase...

On my wish list

Depois de ver mais um pormenor de decoração delicioso na casa da Jeanette (Fryd+Design), fiquei com uma vontadinha imensa de ter destas loiças da Pip Studio. Que cores lindas!! E gosto muito de ver as portas do armário abertas - eu gosto de prateleiras na cozinha, à vista de toda a gente, para se poderem mostrar loiças e outras peças bonitas. Só é pena os senhores holandeses da marca pedirem 29,95€ eur pelo transporte, senão ainda podia pensar nisso a sério. Adoro!!

After seeing another gorgeous decoration detail at Jeanette's blog Fryd+Design, I got this huge will to have some of Pip Studio's floral porcelain. Such beautiful colors! I love to see open shelves in the kitchen, where you can display your beautiful dishes and other kitchenware. Too bad the shipping costs are 29,95€ (crazy!), or else I would seriously consider buying some of these lovely pieces. I just love them!

Hydrangea cupcakes

Adoro flores. Mesmo. Por mim, tinha florzinhas em tudo o que pudesse: lençóis, toalhas, pratos, papel-de -parede, nas jarras, jardim (claro!), enfim, tenho tendência para preferir os motivos floridos, sempre tive. Também não é novidade que gosto de hidranjas - acho que a mesa dos meu aniversário não deixa margem para grandes dúvidas! :) Será talvez das recordações do jardim da minha avó, onde estas flores abundam...

Já falei desta senhora aqui - para além de ter bom gosto, a Glory do blog Glorious Treats faz uns doces com óptimo aspecto e decora mesas de festa com muita atenção ao detalhe. I guess it's not a mistery that I love flowers. I do. I could live with flowers everywhere: tablecloth, wallpaper, dishes, towels, garden (of course!), well, I have a tendency to choose flower over other patterns. Also, it's no news that I love hydrangeas - I think my birthday dessert table is pretty clear about that! :) Maybe this love comes from my grandmother's garden, where she has lots of these lovely flowers...

I've already written about this lady here -  Glory is the author of Glorious Treats and she does wonderful cakes and cookies, as well as beautiful party table decorations. Golden breakfast

Adoro os fins-de-semana, mesmo que os passe à volta dos trabalhos-de-casa da Carlota. Sabe-me tão bem acordar e não ter horas, poder fazer o pequeno-almoço calmamente em casa e apreciá-lo com tempo... Durante a semana, só consigo tomar o pequeno-almoço já no trabalho, pois é sempre uma correria preparar as meninas e correr contra o trânsito. No Inverno, prefiro os chás e torradas, enquanto que no Verão não dispenso um sumo de laranja natural e pão fresco. Tenho usado estes bules dourados, gosto imenso da cor e têm o tamanho ideal para a quantidade de chá que bebo. O jarro transparente é para café, acho-o lindo, mas ainda não o usei.

E vocês, queridos amigos? Gostam tanto desta refeição como eu?

I love weekends, even if I spend most of the time helping Carlota with her homework. It's so good not having to worry with the clock and being able to have my breakfast at home!... Usually, I eat breakfast at work, as I have to rush in the morning, with the kids and traffic and all. I really appreciate my tea with toast in the Winter or orange juice and fresh bread in the Summer. Lately I have been using these golden teapots, they're size is perfect for the quantity of tea that I usually drink. I love their color and I love the carafe as well, although I haven't used it yet, as I want to serve coffee in it and I only drink coffee during the week.

And you, my lovely friends? Do you like breakfast as much as I do?

Pink dream

Sempre tive uma certa fixação por casas-de-banho com luz directa. Talvez porque me lembrem as casas antigas, ou porque apenas em espaços de maiores dimensões é que encontramos destes luxos. Mas, a par de uma casa com jardim e de uma zona sossegada para viver, um dos meus sonhos é um dia (voltar) a tomar banho com a luz do sol a entrar pelas janelas. Gosto desta da cor pouco tradicional na parede - para esta divisão, pelo menos. Casa-de-banho em tons de rosa, luz directa e toalhas da Cath Kidston... que mais poderia eu desejar?

I have always dreamed of having a bathroom with windows and with lots of light. It's kind of an obsession, and along with a bigger house with a garden and living in a quiet area, having a shower with the sun pouring through the windows is something that I dream of very often. I love this bathroom, with its pink walls, not very commonly used in this home division. A light pink bathroom, direct sun light and Cath Kidston bath towels... what more could I ask for?

Andava eu aqui nos meus pensamentos de bolos e assim quando me lembrei de pedir à Dawn, criadora da KikiLaRu (já falei dela aqui), que me fizesse umas bandeirolas em forma de coração, para pôr num bolinho do Dia dos Namorados. Estou curiosíssima para ver o resultado final, devem ficar lindas!!...  Podem espreitar a loja dela no Etsy e verem as originais cake buntings tão lindas que ela faz! Não acham que as minhas bandeirolas vão ficar guapíssimas?

Here I was in my dream world of cakes when I decided to ask Dawn, owner of KikiLaRu, (already did a post on her shop here) to costum make me a cake bunting for Valentine's day. Her work is so precious that I know that the final result is going to be gorgeous: she's making me a bunting with mini heart flags! Can't wait to see how it's going to look like!

Só uma palavra: AMO. Para mim, a Leslie Shewring, autora do famoso blog Creative Mint é das pessoas com mais bom gosto e sentido estético que conheço (virtualmente falando, claro). Às vezes fico parada a olhar para as fotos dela e a absorver tanta beleza. Dá-me prazer. Tudo o que ela faz e mostra é lindo, maravilhoso, perfeito, inspirador, de uma beleza pura. Há pessoas com esse dom, e a Leslie é uma dessas pessoas.

Adoro esta imagem que a Holly Becker publicou no Decor8 e que é da casa da norueguesa Siw Haveland, do Design-Shimmer. Aquele candeeiro faz parte da minha wish-list há anos (na versão dourada), adoro-o! O móvel é do IKEA, tenho um igual - o meu está na lavandaria. Os tacos do chão são lindos! A aura branca e cinzenta, tão nórdica, também me agrada, se bem que eu sou uma pessoa de cores e gosto de ver apontamentos coloridos bem enquadrados. Esta é uma imagem de um pormenor de decoração de interiores que quis publicar aqui porque gostei imenso e este espaço é para isto mesmo - mostrar coisas bonitas.

I love this picture that Holly Becker of Decor8 published, concerning norwegian Siw Haveland's place, of Design-Shimmer. That lamp is on my wish list for years now (the gold version), I just love it! The cabinet is IKEA's, I have one like that, but mine is the laundry room. I love that wooden type of floor, just gorgeous! This house has a white and grey aura that I like so much, although I am more of a colour girl myself. This is a picture of interior decoration details that I find beautiful, so that's why I'm sharing it with you.

Tea party

... ah!! E não vos disse... ando aqui a congeminar uma tea party, lá mais para a Primavera. Toalha de renda, chávenas de chá da minha (pequena) colecção, vasos de flores como centro de mesa... e bolinhos, claro! Enfim, são as saudades do bom tempo, que esta chuva ninguém a aguenta!



 ... by the way, I haven't told you yet that I've been thinking about throwing a tea party, when we get closer to Spring: gather some friends, crochet tablecloths, vintage china, vases with flowers and lots of cakes, of course! I miss the sun and good weather, I just can't stand this rain much longer...

Como penso que já se devem ter apercebido, a minha cabeça passou das festividades natalícias para as festividades amorosas, vulgo Dia dos Namorados. Confesso que é uma data que nunca me disse muito, pois sou da opinião que namorar é uma celebração que se deve festejar diariamente e não num dia específico, mas o tema do amor é tão rico e tão bonito, que nada melhor que uma mesa de doces para o representar! Então quero ir-vos mostrando algumas das ideias que tenho visto por aí e que são pormenores deliciosos e românticos que valem a pena partilhar. Hoje o tema são as palhinhas. Ficam tão giras, não acham?

Some of you may have already noticed that my mind changed from Christmas thoughts to Valentine's Day dreaming. I confess: it's not a date that I care about much, as for me the celebration of love has to be enjoyed everyday and not only on a specific date. But love and Valentine's themes are so rich in terms of party decor that nothing's sweeter than a dessert table to celebrate it! So I'll be sharing with you some of the beautiful ideas that I've been finding along the way, truly lovely and romantic! Today the theme is about straws. So cute, dont't you think?

Sweet New Year's Table

Meus queridos amigos, hoje estou muito feliz! Queria mostrar-vos algumas fotos que a fabulosa Amy Atlas publicou no seu blog e que enquadram o seu regresso em 2011, depois de umas merecidas férias.

Criei esta mesa a pensar no Natal mas, por imprevistos vários, só a consegui ter pronta mais próximo do Ano Novo. A ideia era conjugar a decoração a partir de 3 pratos vermelhos só que, infelizmente, uma daquelas belezas partiu-se (e, com ele, uma dorzinha de alma mas, ok, é só um prato!). Como me encantam as decorações e bolas de Natal, baseei-me nesse tema e nos rosas, dourados e vermelhos para fazer uma mesa de doces para o aniversário do meu marido, que o festeja em Dezembro. Acreditem que comemos aqueles bolos deliciosos todos!! O bolo maior é de amêndoa com ovos moles e vinho do Porto e os cupcakes são de leite condensado e de maçã com especiarias. Se ficaram com fome, já sabem onde os mandei fazer.. na Cupcake. Quis que uns dos cupcakes fossem réplicas das bolas de Natal antigas da minha colecção, e a reprodução foi mesmo fiel!

Espero que gostem. Para mim, esta é uma excelente maneira de começar o novo ano!! E não preciso de repetir que gosto de ouvir a vossa opinião, pois não?

Hi everyone! Today I'm super happy, as this little dessert table that I have styled has been featured in the fabulous Amy Atlas' blog!

I did this decoration thinking of Christmas, but a series of unpredicted events happened along the way, so I had to postpone the celebration to another date, closer to New Year's Eve. Anyway, my husband's birthday is in December, so this was a way of celebrating both the Holidays and his anniversary. I was a little sad because one of the beautiful red ruby cake-stands that I had in mind for this table (I was thinking of using 3 of them) broke but, hey, that's only a plate, so I made an effort to forget that incident and went along with the decoration. I used red, pink and golden, as those were the colors that I used for my Holidays decorations. Do you notice that four of the cupcakes as well as the ornaments on top of the cake are replica of the vintage ones that I collect? I don't want to make you hungry, but let me tell you: that the cake was delicious! Almond with egg custard and port wine - and the cupcakes were also super yummy as well - apple and spices and canned milk. You know where to find them if you want some: at Cupcake.

Well, I guess that's it for today - such a nice way to start a new year! I hope you enjoy this and I don't have to tell you again that I would love to hear your opinion!

Objects of my desire

Bom-dia, queridos amigos! Que tal 2011? Muito diferente do ano passado? :-)

Quero partilhar convosco a minha recente obsessão por estas peças decorativas - o cor-de-rosa e o dourado andam na minha cabeça já há uns tempos e, como ando aqui a engendrar a decoração de uma mesa romântica de S. Valentim, fiquei apaixonada por estes pratos de bolos e pelos suportes para flores que, depois de dourados, funcionam maravilhosamente como marcadores. Já juntei uns quantos e espero que aquilo que ando a planear funcione!

Claro que, como sempre, gosto de ouvir as vossas opiniões. Por isso, partilhem-nas, digam de vossa justiça - o que gostam de ver numa mesa, que ideias têm para uma decoração com doces (e não só), enfim, falem comigo que eu gosto de vos ouvir! :-)

Hi, my lovely friends! How's 2011 going for you? Very different from last year? :-)

Well, today I'm sharing with you some of my recent obsessions. These are table decoration items and the colors pink and gold have been in my mind for a while now, so these cake-stands and golden flower frogs are two of the things that I have been craving, as I'm imagining a Valentine's Day table decoration... I've gathered a few, so I hope to get my plans right.

I would love to hear your opinion, as usual - tell me what you think in terms of table styling, share your thoughts with me, they don't have to concern sweet tables exclusively, just table decoration tips in general. Talk to me, I love to hear you! :-)

Queridos amigos, amigas, leitores, curiosos, visitantes passageiros, quero deixar-vos uma mensagem de Ano Novo: que o vosso 2011 seja doce em todos os sentidos! Com alegria, saúde, amor, ao lado da família e dos amigos, sabendo que vai haver bons e maus momentos, mas sempre a pensar que este desafio que é a vida é mesmo isso: é tudo menos monótona! Hello, my lovely friends! I hope you've had a very happy Christmas! I am with a  severe back ache, I guess it's because I drove so much and because of the cold weather as well. I'm coming here in a hurry just to show you a sneak peek of the dessert table that I created - these are apple and spices cupcakes decorated with ornaments. As soon as I have the remaining photos, you'll be the first ones to know!

Não postei fotografias da minha árvore pois ainda está incompleta, não tenho tido tempo!! Então pedi autorização à fantástica Yvonne Eijkenduijn, do não menos fantástico blog The Yvestown Blog (sim, eu sei, é maravilhoso!) e mostro-vos as fotos da árvore de Natal que decorou e que eu adorei. Baseei-me numa ideia da Creature Comforts para esta decoração de Natal e nada melhor do que a conjugar com um cupcake bem branquinho e invernoso. Por coincidência, foi publicado hoje naquele blog um cupcake kit igual a este que usei para decorar os meus! :-) Adoro bambies e veados, ando à procura de um em cerâmica há tanto tempo!...

E lá vou eu para mais um Domingo infantil, levar a Carlota e as minhas sobrinhas a um espectáculo de Natal!
