{Vintage shelf}

Esta foi mais uma das aquisições apaixonadas na Retrovilla. É uma estante antiga, forrada com papel-de-parede vintage, com o bom gosto da Helena sempre a dar cartas... A decoração ainda não é a definitiva, até porque já ando com umas mastrioskazinhas roxas debaixo de olho, mas quis mostrar-vos o que lá temos, para já.

This was another passionate purchase at Retrovilla. It's a vintage shelf, decorated by Helena with pieces of old wallpaper. The decoration is not final (I'm with some purple matrioshkas on my mind), but still I wanted to show you how it looks like today.

Retro japanese

Gosto de bonecos antigos de borracha. Aliás, gosto de bonecos e bonecas antigos. Na minha opinião, hoje em dia não há brinquedos tão bonitos como antigamente. Pode ser saudosismo, não sei. Por exemplo, eu acho que a Nancy antiga é bem mais bonita que a actual. A Sindy é mais querida que a Barbie. Quando vou às lojas de brinquedos com as minhas filhas, é cada boneca mais feia que vendem!! Não consigo entender porquê, mas deve haver alguma razão económica subjacente - de certeza que são produtos que se vendem!

Os japoneses são exímios em fazer bonecada querida e eu, como tenho particular propensão para tudo o que é bonito, fico fascinada com brinquedos de borracha com carinhas amorosas... Então tenho conseguido encontrar alguns, que trago para as minhas babies e que deliram com eles (também os mostrei em posts anteriores). Mas, enquanto que há bonecos antigos relativamente baratos, os de borracha devem ter-se tornado collector's item e não são tão baratos quanto isso...

E qual é a vossa opinião? 

 

I like vintage rubber dolls. Actually, I like all kinds of vintage dolls. In my opinion, they don't make beautiful toys like they used to. For example, I find the old Nancy doll much prettier than the new one. Sindy is cuter than Barbie. When I go shopping for toys with my kids I sometimes get scared with such ugly dolls!! I can't understand why, but there surely must be an economic reason behind this - these toys must sell!

Japanese are on top when we talk about cute toys and I get attracted to all things pretty, so I've managed to find some vintage and reproductions of old japanese toy,s like the ones on the photo (and some on previous posts). The kids love them, but some of these rubber toys are expensive - I guess they have become a collector's item and while you can find some cheap vintage dolls, these rubber ones aren't that cheap...

What's your opinion on this?

My Bambi just cares for me

Já vos tinha dito que adoro o Bambi... o "Bamba", como a Conchinha lhe chama...


P.S.: Se alguém souber onde consigo encontrar mais fronhas de almofada com rosas lilás ou roxa, é favor de comunicar! :)

I've already told you how much I love Bambi... "Bamba", as Conchinha calls it.

Lavender in the air...

Olá a todos, espero que estejam bem! Mais um fim-de-semana de alegria e descanso, que é o que todos precisamos. 

Mostro-vos outras fotos do quarto das minhas filhas, que vai ganhando a forma final - o candeeiro novo chegou esta semana e agora ando apaixonada pela colcha com o mesmo padrão do abat-jour. Vai ficar tão lindo o quarto das minhas meninas!! Tem evoluído aos poucos e ainda falta alguma arrumação, daí eu ainda não ter fotos completas do quarto, mas eu acho que está a ficar amoroso. Vou mandar fazer uma arca à medida, para encaixar ao fundo da cama e conseguir arrumar o resto dos brinquedos e livros para os quais não temos espaço. 

Desculpem esta quantidade de posts sempre com o mesmo tema e a cor lilás, mas já sabem que é das minhas favoritas e foi nestes tons que optei por decorar o quarto delas. Também adoro o cheiro da alfazema, e sente-se o aroma no ar quando entramos no quartinho (eu gosto de saquinhos com alfazema nos armários)...

Hi everyone, hope you're doing well! Here we are in another happy weekend, ready to relax a little - we all deserve this!

I'm showing you some more pictures of my daughters' bedroom - the purple lamp has arrived and now I'm craving the duvet cover made with the abat-jour fabric. Their room is going to look great when we finish decorating it - it has evolved slowly, so that's why I still don't have photos of the whole bedroom, and besides other things, we still have to find a chest to keep the rest of their stuff. I have to have one made by measure, so that it fits perfectly at the bottom of the bed. 

I'm sorry if the last posts are about the same theme and the same colour, but you know how I love lilac and that was the main colour that I chose to decorate their room. I also love lavender and we can feel its sweet aroma when we enter their little room (I like lavender sachets in the closet)...

This hanger was mine - it's almost 40 years old! :) I love Bambi, and so does Conchinha, so their room is full of pictures and other Bambi items...

Sweet details

Ainda falta o papel-de-parede, acabar de pintar a secretária, pôr mais umas prateleiras. Falta uma arca, alguns lençóis (agora são duas camas), mantas quentinhas para o Inverno. E as almofadas! E falta acabar de pintar a casinha-de-bonecas. Mas já começa a ficar o quartinho que as minhas filhas adoram - não saem de lá! Eu vou-vos mantendo actualizados, ok?

We still have to hang the wallpaper, finish painting the desk and install some more shelves. We need a chest, a few more sheets (it's 2 beds now) and some warm blankets for colder times. And the cushions! And we still have to finish painting the dolls house too. But the little bedroom is becoming the place that my daughters love - they don't leave the room! I will keep you posted on its evolution, ok?

These are some vintage fabrics that I'll be using for pillows (bellow) and a lovely lilac lamp, for a beautiful shades of lavender bedroom... 

I hope that they keep images of their little things in the memories of their childhood. The same way that I kept images of pretty things from when I was a kid... the most important time of our lives must be filled with beauty and love!

Olá, queridos amigos! O quarto da Carlota e da Conchinha continua um caos, mas já fomos arrumando algumas coisas... Não vejo a hora de o pintar e mudar o papel-de-parede! 

Algumas das estantes de parede do Ikea que já montamos (aquela parede vai ficar branca) - ainda não decidi o que fazer em relação ao assunto prateleiras, pois tudo o que envolve furar as paredes põe-me sempre a pensar... Para além de elas terem montanhas de livros, têm também muitos brinquedos bonitos que eu gostava de expor, mas não quero uma parede só com estantes. Vamos ver o que sai daqui! :)

Hello, my dear friends! The girls bedroom is still chaotic, but we've managed to assemble these Ikea shelves - the wall is going to be painted in white. I can't wait to have the new wallpaper and the light that comes from white walls!

I still haven't decide on what to do about the shelves issue - what kind and how many - as they have thousands of books and beautiful toys that I would like to display as well, but I don't want to fill the walls only with shelves... Let's see how this is going to turn out! :)

Shades of lilac, white and mango ♥

Aqui estão mais umas fotografias com as cores que planeio usar no quarto das meninas. O tecido da esquerda é um tecido antigo que vou usar para fazer uma almofada para a cadeira da secretária. A casinha das bonecas, em madeira, vai ser pintada nos tons do móvel maravilhoso do não menos maravilhoso blog Fjeldborg. Adoro. E adoro estas 3 cores juntas - disse uma vez que um dia iria decorar uma mesa de doces nestes tons (aqui)...

Bem, posso-vos dizer que esta remodelação em sido uma óptima preparação física para mim! Depois de tantos bolos, de ter deixado de fumar há 3 anos e de ter sido mãe novamente, estava mesmo a precisar de voltar ao meu estado normal... Comecei, pela primeira vez na vida, a fazer dieta. Dieta que acho que me vai acompanhar para o resto da vida. Claro que devo complementá-la com exercício físico. Montar o beliche, pintar, carregar móveis, livros - ufa! Vou ficar em forma! :)

Here are some more photos with colour inspiration for my daughters bedroom renewal. The fabric on the left is a vintage one that I plan to use on a pillowcase - I intend to use the pillow on their desk chair. The wooden dolls house is going to be painted in the colours of that wonderful cabinet, of the delightful blog Fjeldborg. I love it. And I love these 3 colours together... I once told that one day I would style a sweet table in these shades (here)...

Well, trust me, this remodelation has been truly good for my shape! After so many cakes, after quiting smoking 3 years ago and having been a mother again I was really in need to get back to my usual shape. So, for the first time in my life, I'm on a diet. This new regime will be with me forever from now on. And of course I have to exercise, so assembling the bunk bed, painting it, carrying bookcases, books, clothes - uff! I'll be pretty on shape soon! :)

Old memories...

Found this tray in my messy garage, where I keep stuff that I don't use - for now, I'll use it when I have a bigger home. It's a silver plated tray that belonged to my grand mother. I like trays - I told you before. And I like candles (told you before as well). The flickering light reflects on the silver and it shines beautifully in the night...

 

{Lilac dream}

Hoje começamos a montagem do beliche no quarto da Carlota e da Conchinha. Tal como esperava, a cama é alta demais. Espero que seja possível serrá-la e diminuir à altura pois, caso contrário, não consigo gostar de a ver naquele espaço.

Nos meus sonhos, vejo um quarto branco e lilás, nem muito bebé, nem muito rapariga. Um sítio onde as meninas possam brincar e estudar. Estas são algumas inspirações para o quartinho das minhas babies... comecei a sonhar com o papel-de-parede da Retrovilla e não mais parei... Sempre adorei o lilás!

We started assembling the girls bunk bed today. As I expected, the bed is too tall. I hope it can be sawn and become lower, or else I won't like to see it in there. 

In my dreams, I see the room in white and lilac tones, not too babyish, nor too girlish. A place where the girls can play and study. These are some inspirations for my babies bedroom... it started with Retrovilla wallpaper and went on from there.... I've always loved lilac!

Holidays projects

Entro hoje de férias - super feliz, claro! Tantos programas para fazer, vai ser óptimo! Um desses vai ser montar e pintar o beliche do quarto das meninas - e, como vou ter de mudar a mobília de sítio, já me apetece mudar também o papel-de-parede, pintar uma das paredes, pôr uns quadrinhos com umas aguarelas com pássaros, lindas, os livros numas estantes que espero que o meu cunhado possa fazer, um tapete novo... Enfim, nem parece que remodelei o quarto da Carlota há 2 anos (ver aqui)...

Se quiserem ver a evolução deste novo projecto, passem por aqui durante os próximos dias. Todas as dicas de sites / blogs / lojas inspiradoras são mais do que bem vindas.

Today I start my vacations, I'm super happy! I have so many plans and so many things to do! One of those things is to assemble and paint the girls' bunk bed - and I feel like redecorating the whole room again, as I have to change the place of the furniture. I'm thinking of a new wallpaper, repaint the free wall, beautiful birds watercolors, new book shelves that I'm hoping my brother in law can make and a new rug... Well, one would never imagine that Carlota's room has been decorated 2 years ago (here)...

My new vintage-style silk roses and this lovely wall plate that is going to look gorgeous in the living room! The roses are so pretty that I like to see them loose on my sideboard, like a bunch a flowers freshly picked from the garden... (I wish!)
