Pink + Gold

Tive que alterar os planos de cores. Apesar de adorar os lilases e roxos, a minha sala está em tons de branco, rosa, azul e dourado. O espaço é pequeno, ficava uma confusão a mistura de cores... Assim, e baseando-me no jarrão onde pus os galhos, optei por mudar as cores para os rosas e dourados. Tenho tantas bolas de Natal antigas, lindas de morrer, que nem sei por onde escolher! Adoro a minha colecção! :) Se quiserem que eu faça um post acerca dos meus enfeites de Natal e da minha colecção, faz favor de dizer!

Vão-me acompanhando neste work in progress, pois ainda faltam bastantes coisas para a decoração terminar...

I had to change my colour plans. My living room is decorated in white, pink, some blue and golden touches. And even though I love purple and lilac tones, they would create too much of a confusion in such a small place. So I opted for the pink and gold tones for the Christmas decorations, as they match the Ikea vase and the rest of the room colours. I have so many vintage glass ornaments, it's hard to choose the ones I want to use! I just love my collection! If you want me to show you photos of the baubles  and ornaments in my collection in a specific post, please do let me know!

Começaram as decorações de Natal... Este ano, é garantido que não fica tudo para a última da hora! Ainda estou a experimentar e faltam muitas coisas, mas aqui ficam algumas fotos do "início dos trabalhos". Optamos por não fazer árvore de Natal, para evitar bolas e vidros partidos - a Conchinha pode magoar-se. As decorações serão feitas ao longo da casa e, principalmente, no móvel da sala - ando a magicar umas coisas queridas para as miúdas...

Comprei estas casinhas em cerâmica e estou certa de que vamos adorar vê-las iluminadas à noite...

Christmas decorations have started... This year, I'm making sure that I'm not leaving everything for the last minute! There are still a lot of things missing, but I'm showing you some photos of how it's beginning to look like. We chose not to have a Christmas tree, to avoid baubles and broken glass - Conchinha might get hurt. I'll decorate the rest of the house, especially the living room and the sideboard, where I'm planning on having something cute for the little ones...

I bought these ceramic cottages and I'm sure we'll all love the night lights...

Olá a todos! Espero que estejam a aproveitar bem estes raios de sol do Outono - o que eu gosto destes dias de frio, mas com sol!... Este fim-de-semana vou ajudar a Carlota a preparar a venda de Natal na sua escola - está no 4º ano, vão ter viagem de finalistas (no meu tempo não havia nada disso mas, adiante) e uma das formas de juntarem algum dinheiro é venderem algumas coisas - livros que já não queiram, objectos feitos por si, doces, etc. Temos muita coisa para preparar e, como eu adoro o espírito de Natal, já estou a imaginar uns lindos embrulhos, umas bolachinhas em caixas decoradas, tudo bonito.... :)

Já comecei a desembrulhar os enfeites de Natal. Preciso de ver a quantidade de bolas que tenho, escolher as cores, decidir o que pôr na árvore, em cima do móvel da sala, se vou usar uns galhos para pendurar alguns enfeites... vamos ver! Ando inclinada para os rosas e branco (sempre o branco) ou lilás, roxo, rosa e branco...

Hi everyone! Hope you're enjoying your weekend - we're having a cold sunny Saturday here in Porto, and I love this weather! This weekend I'll be helping out my older daughter on her Christmas sale at school. They have to raise some money for their school travel and we'll be making some pretty Christmas packages, bake some cookies, maybe sell a few old books that she doesn't read any more... I love the holiday season, so hopefully we'll manage to make beautiful things with the stuff that we have at home.

I already started to unpacking my Christmas ornaments. I need to see how many I have, choose the colours that I'm using and loving this year, plan on what I'm decorating the sideboard with - maybe I'll use some branches to hang a few baubles... This year I'm thinking of a pink and white decor (always white) or maybe add some lilac and purple as well...

Ok, alguns de vocês não sabem como é que eu sou (a não ser pela foto que está no separador "About Me") e, como nem todas as pessoas vão à página do Facebook, onde tenho mais algumas fotos minhas, achei que neste dia, em que faço 41 anos, poderiam achar piada em ver-me em fotografias mais actualizadas... Estas foram tiradas hoje e, como é um dia feliz, espero que isso se transmita no sorriso que vos deixo - esqueçam o cabelo que, enfim, está naquela fase que não é carne, nem é peixe!! Beijos!!

I have very few pictures of myself, so I decided to take these self portraits today, as it's my 41st birthday and maybe you want to see my "updated" face! :) Forget about the hair, it's on that stage that is somewhat undefined... :) xo Susana

Primeiro fim-de-semana de Outono a sério. Nem quero acreditar que faço 41 anos para a semana e que esteve tanto calor até tão próximo do meu aniversário!...

Hoje de manhã tirei algumas fotos de alguns recantos de cá de casa. Esta semana montamos umas estantes no meu quarto - não ficaram lá muito bem, a madeira está empenada e, apesar de gostar e de lá querer estantes, ainda não encontrei as ideais. Aqui há uns tempos vi estes bonequinhos magnéticos numa fotografia e lembrei-me de que deveriam ficar bem no meu quarto, com os tons de vermelho que por lá predominam... Aquela moldura castanha também deve mudar de cor brevemente... :)

Na sala já só me apetece começar com as decorações de Natal - eu sei, falta ainda algum tempo, mas desde Setembro que penso nisso - nas maravilhosas bolas de Natal, que eu tanto adoro, nos arranjos que quero fazer com as miúdas, nas cores que vou escolher este ano... Queria muito ter uma taça de pé, branca, e fazer um arranjo com bolas e outras peças de vidro. Mas as que eu encontro e de que gosto são muito caras... Bem, com a ajuda da Carlota, já tenho um pequeno detalhe natalício na sala:

E daqui a pouco seguimos para o Parque da Cidade, para apanhar umas folhas que a Carlota vai usar para fazer uma vassoura para a aula de Inglês - o tema é o Halloween. Olhem só as cores do nosso parque no Outono... são lindas!...

This is the first real Autumn weekend here at Porto. Next week I'm turning 41 and I can't believe we've had such hot days so close to my birthday!


Well, this morning I took a few pictures of some corners of my home. We now have two new shelves in my bedroom, but they don't look that good, as the wood is warped. Still have to find the right ones... One of these days I saw a picture of those old magnetic kissing couples and I thought they would look good in my room - so here they are! That wooden frame is turning another colour pretty soon... :)

I feel like starting Christmas decor in the living room, although it's a little too early - don't know what's gotten into me this year, but I've been thinking about it since September! I love ornaments, especially vintage ones, and this year I'm planning on having some cute Christmas details in the girls' room - their little Christmas - so I can't stop thinking about it - the colours that I'll be using, sweets, beautiful displays... I also would love to have a footed plate in which I could display the ornaments, but the ones that I like are too expensive... Sooo, with a help from Carlota, we have this small deer in the living room, which is a nice Christmasy detail! :)

Conchinha also left her mark with the loose shoes and teddy bear... and I left mine, with another Mason jar display and a couple of plain bowls that I love.

We'll be heading off to the main city park in a while and I leave you a photo of its beautiful Fall colours...

Pansies {or perfect-love} ✿

Adoro amores-perfeitos. É uma flor cujo nome se aplica às minhas filhas. Para o ano vou semeá-los no jardim. Ainda por cima, ficam lindos nas cores que escolhi para o quarto delas - amarelo e roxo. Usei um papel-de-parede para forrar a base que a Carlota usa na secretária. Com uns lindos amores-perfeitos...

I love pansies. In portuguese, they are called "perfect-love", which is a name that totally applies to my little cherished ones... Next year I will plant some in the garden. I love their colours, and they came in yellow and purple quite often, which are the colours that I chose for the girls' bedroom. I used some vintage wallpaper to cover a cardboard that Carlota uses at their desk. With beautiful pansies...

Let's play together

Estamos quase a acabar a decoração do quarto. Algumas fotos - ilustrações antigas na parede, as gavetas da secretária que forramos hoje e a arca nova, que funciona como mesa para brincarem ou como o palco da Carlota (adora dançar). Está o verdadeiro quarto de bonecas!

We're almost finishing the girls bedroom makeover. Some photos - the vintage illustrations on their wall, the wallpaper covered drawers of their desk and the painted chest, that works as a table and as a mini stage - Carlota loves to dance. It's becoming a real doll's room! :)

Gatherings Magazine

Eu conheci a Heather quando, nas minhas navegações pelo Etsy, encontrei a sua linda loja, a Gathering Vintage. Na altura, fiquei apaixonada pelo jarro turquesa e por uma toalha antiga, com rosas, que decidi então comprar... 

Adoro este jarro, já o devem ter visto muitas vezes aqui pelo blog. E criou-se logo uma empatia entre mim e a Heather que, pouco tempo depois de nos conhecermos virtualmente, deu-me a alegria de dedicar no seu blog um post acerca do meu Citrusandorange (aqui). Desde essa altura que não paro de seguir as andanças desta senhora que, tal como eu, tem um amor por peças antigas e pela decoração vintage. Visitem o Heather Spriggs, não tenho dúvidas de que vão gostar!

A Heather lançou a Gatherings Magazine em Julho passado, na sua edição de Verão e ontem acabou de lançar a revista de Outono, onde a minha humilde casinha é uma das ilustres convidadas! :) Fiquei super emocionada quando vi as fotos, adorei toda a revista e o meu coração enche-se de alegria por poder partilhar as coisas de que gosto de uma forma tão bonita!..♥ A revista está óptima e adorei os pormenores dos embrulhos para os presentes.

 

Agora já estou em pulgas para que saia a edição de Natal (Holiday Gift Guide) e a edição de Inverno (All White Issue). :)

I met Heather on one of my Etsy journeys - just bumped into her lovely shop, Gathering Vintage. I fell in love with the vintage turquoise coffe pot and the roses tablecloth, and decided on buying them then.

You have seen this coffee pot on lots of pictures here at the blog, I love it! I immediatly connected with Heather, as we both love vintage and romantic decor, and it was a real pleasure when she kindly dedicated a post to my Citrusandorange at her blog (here). Since then I've been following around this lovely lady throughout the web, as I love her taste and all the things she shares are pure beauty. You have to visit Heather Spriggs, I'm sure you'll love it!

Last July Heather launched Gatherings Magazine, the Summer issue, and yesterday the Fall issue came out, where yours truly is a humble guest! :) I was super excited and when I saw the photos I was really touched - I'm super happy to share the things that I love in such a pretty way!... Thanks Heather! ♥ 

Now I can't hardly wait for the Holidays issues - the Holiday Gift Guide and the All White Issue.

Work in progress...

Ainda não terminei... Mas fico feliz, pois desde que têm as suas novas caminhas, as minhas filhas dormem a noite toda no seu quartinho. ♥

Aqui ficam mais alguns pormenores do quarto. Como a Carlota adora dançar, vou pôr uns quadros com umas bailarinas. Esta foto mostra um dos desenhos, do lado direito. E agora, na minha cabeça, estão uns pratos para pendurar na parede, com o nome de cada uma delas... Ah, e claro está, uma arca branca, com a largura da cama, para pôr ao fundo do beliche. Serve para arrumar mais alguns brinquedos e para fazer de mesinha para elas. Ainda não decidi se forro a tampa da arca com papel ou se forro apenas umas cadeirinhas de madeira que ainda vou arranjar... o que acham?

Still unfinished... But I'm happy, as the girls sleep all night in their bedroom ever since they have the new beds. ♥

I leave you with a few more details of the room. As Carlota loves to dance, I'm hanging two ballerina pictures - I'm showing you one of the prints above. And for now all I can think of is two custom made wall plates, each with their name on it... And, of course, a white chest to put at the end of the bed, with the same width. Then I can clear up a few more toys and have the chest work as a table as well, as I'm planning on having little chairs too. I still didn't decide whether I'm covering the top of the chest with paper or if I'll just use some bits of wallpaper that I have left to cover the chairs... what do you think i should do?

Ainda não estão passadas a ferro, a luz não é nada de especial, mas tinha que vos mostrar as fotos. Eu adoro as almofadas novas das princesas. Adoro almofadas - quem não gosta? O eterno elemento decorativo com que as mulheres se perdem... temos sempre tantas! :) Não concordam?

They're still unironed, the light is not so great, but I had to show you the photos. I love the new pillows of my little ones. I love pillows - who doesn't? The decorative item that all women like... we always have so many! :) Don't you agree?

{Vintage shelf}

Esta foi mais uma das aquisições apaixonadas na Retrovilla. É uma estante antiga, forrada com papel-de-parede vintage, com o bom gosto da Helena sempre a dar cartas... A decoração ainda não é a definitiva, até porque já ando com umas mastrioskazinhas roxas debaixo de olho, mas quis mostrar-vos o que lá temos, para já.

This was another passionate purchase at Retrovilla. It's a vintage shelf, decorated by Helena with pieces of old wallpaper. The decoration is not final (I'm with some purple matrioshkas on my mind), but still I wanted to show you how it looks like today.

Retro japanese

Gosto de bonecos antigos de borracha. Aliás, gosto de bonecos e bonecas antigos. Na minha opinião, hoje em dia não há brinquedos tão bonitos como antigamente. Pode ser saudosismo, não sei. Por exemplo, eu acho que a Nancy antiga é bem mais bonita que a actual. A Sindy é mais querida que a Barbie. Quando vou às lojas de brinquedos com as minhas filhas, é cada boneca mais feia que vendem!! Não consigo entender porquê, mas deve haver alguma razão económica subjacente - de certeza que são produtos que se vendem!

Os japoneses são exímios em fazer bonecada querida e eu, como tenho particular propensão para tudo o que é bonito, fico fascinada com brinquedos de borracha com carinhas amorosas... Então tenho conseguido encontrar alguns, que trago para as minhas babies e que deliram com eles (também os mostrei em posts anteriores). Mas, enquanto que há bonecos antigos relativamente baratos, os de borracha devem ter-se tornado collector's item e não são tão baratos quanto isso...

E qual é a vossa opinião? 

 

I like vintage rubber dolls. Actually, I like all kinds of vintage dolls. In my opinion, they don't make beautiful toys like they used to. For example, I find the old Nancy doll much prettier than the new one. Sindy is cuter than Barbie. When I go shopping for toys with my kids I sometimes get scared with such ugly dolls!! I can't understand why, but there surely must be an economic reason behind this - these toys must sell!

Japanese are on top when we talk about cute toys and I get attracted to all things pretty, so I've managed to find some vintage and reproductions of old japanese toy,s like the ones on the photo (and some on previous posts). The kids love them, but some of these rubber toys are expensive - I guess they have become a collector's item and while you can find some cheap vintage dolls, these rubber ones aren't that cheap...

What's your opinion on this?

My Bambi just cares for me

Já vos tinha dito que adoro o Bambi... o "Bamba", como a Conchinha lhe chama...


P.S.: Se alguém souber onde consigo encontrar mais fronhas de almofada com rosas lilás ou roxa, é favor de comunicar! :)

Lavender in the air...

Olá a todos, espero que estejam bem! Mais um fim-de-semana de alegria e descanso, que é o que todos precisamos. 

Mostro-vos outras fotos do quarto das minhas filhas, que vai ganhando a forma final - o candeeiro novo chegou esta semana e agora ando apaixonada pela colcha com o mesmo padrão do abat-jour. Vai ficar tão lindo o quarto das minhas meninas!! Tem evoluído aos poucos e ainda falta alguma arrumação, daí eu ainda não ter fotos completas do quarto, mas eu acho que está a ficar amoroso. Vou mandar fazer uma arca à medida, para encaixar ao fundo da cama e conseguir arrumar o resto dos brinquedos e livros para os quais não temos espaço. 

Desculpem esta quantidade de posts sempre com o mesmo tema e a cor lilás, mas já sabem que é das minhas favoritas e foi nestes tons que optei por decorar o quarto delas. Também adoro o cheiro da alfazema, e sente-se o aroma no ar quando entramos no quartinho (eu gosto de saquinhos com alfazema nos armários)...

Hi everyone, hope you're doing well! Here we are in another happy weekend, ready to relax a little - we all deserve this!

I'm showing you some more pictures of my daughters' bedroom - the purple lamp has arrived and now I'm craving the duvet cover made with the abat-jour fabric. Their room is going to look great when we finish decorating it - it has evolved slowly, so that's why I still don't have photos of the whole bedroom, and besides other things, we still have to find a chest to keep the rest of their stuff. I have to have one made by measure, so that it fits perfectly at the bottom of the bed. 

I'm sorry if the last posts are about the same theme and the same colour, but you know how I love lilac and that was the main colour that I chose to decorate their room. I also love lavender and we can feel its sweet aroma when we enter their little room (I like lavender sachets in the closet)...
