Party inspiration

O tempo passa a correr... A Conchinha já vai fazer 3 anos, está naquela maravilhosa fase da vida em que tudo o que fala é querido e inocente, como só as crianças sabem ser!... Como faz anos a 25 de Março, o tempo não tem ajudado muito (chove sempre no dia de aniversário ou nos dias próximos) - e a minha casa é pequena, com a chuva não se consegue aproveitar o jardim para alargar o espaço. 

Mas, mesmo com as previsões de mau tempo, este ano decidi fazer-lhe uma pequena festinha - e ela anda entusiasmadíssima com o bolo, as pintarolas, o vestido de princesa (que já está a usar)... Só a perspectiva de a fazer feliz, dá-me imenso prazer e alegria!...

A Conchinha quer um bolo da Hello Kitty, com bolinhas. Nada que tenha a ver com o meu conceito habitual de festas infantis, mas tenho que aceitar este desafio. Claro que terei tendência a desvirtuar a decoração da festa, aproximando-a daquilo de que eu gosto mais (e que sei que ela também vai gostar), até porque podemos conduzir e ensinar às crianças o gosto pela beleza, fomentar o conhecimento de coisas novas... e ela ainda não tinha visto as Little Twin Stars! :)

Aqui estão algumas ideias que ando a engendrar apesar de, como já aconteceu, poder mudar tudo à última da hora... 

Time runs so fast... Conchinha is turning 3, she's in that wonderful stage of life where everything she says is cute and innocent, the way only children can be!... As her birthday is on the 25th of March, the weather hasn't helped much (not even on the days close to the date), as it usually rains and my home is too small to gather a nice party - we can't use the garden as an extension.

But, even with the raining forecast, this year I decided to throw her a little party - and she's so excited about the cake, the smarties and the princess dress (that she's been wearing already)! Just the thought of making her happy, gives me so much pleasure and joy!...

Concha wants a Hello Kitty cake, with smarties. Something that is quite far away from my liking, so I might conduct her to something different, equally beautiful, such as the Little Twins Stars theme. We have to show our kids other options, new stuff, so that they can grow their taste based on lots of information.

Here are some ideas that I've been thinking of, not being sure that this will be the final outcome... :)

Tenho andado ausente do blog - são umas férias, bem precisas. Não consigo ter tempo disponível, ando com muito trabalho e as duas crianças ainda ocupam a nossa atenção quase a 100%. Quis deixar-vos hoje umas fotos que tirei, para me inspirar nas cores da festa de anos da Carlota, que é para o mês. Ainda não decidi o que vou fazer, nem que cores vou usar... Gostam destas? 

I've been away from the blog - it's a much needed vacations. I'm having lots of work lately and with 2 kids to take care of, it's really difficult to stop by and say hi. But here I am again, to share some photos that I took as a way to inspire myself in the choice of colors for Carlota's birthday part - it's taking place next month. I still haven't decide on what to do or what colors I'll be using... Do you like these?



Life's a party!!

Gostei tanto desta grinalda feita com forminhas de cupcakes - nothing new, mas chamou-me a atenção  a combinação de cores, os vários tipos de forminhas e quis mostrar-vos porque acho que é uma ideia fácil de concretizar e com impacto numa festa. Os enfeites de tecto alteram completamente o ambiente de uma sala, por isso gosto tanto de os usar e os aconselho sempre que me pedem a opinião na decoração de festas.

E, como hoje me sinto em festa (por dentro!), deixo esta imagem para transmitir isso mesmo e também como forma de agradecer a atenção que me deram no Birthday Girl (donde tirei as minhas primeiras inspirações para festas - bem, a Becca faz uns moodboards fabulosos!), no Gathering Spriggs, da Heather (esta senhora tem um bom gosto incrível e particularmente especializado em peças vintage - dêem também uma olhadela aqui e não percam a loja no Etsy) e no IDA Interior Lifestyle, que é o blog da Ilaria e que é, apenas,  uma das pessoas que conheço na blogosfera com melhor olho  para design e decoração.

I really liked this cupcake liner garland - nothing new, but these colours and different shapes look great together! So I wanted to share it with you, as it's an easy way of brightening your party. I really like ceiling decor, as it enhances the wow factor in a room, so I always recommend using some if possible, whenever I'm asked for party inspiration tips.

And today I'm feeling like I'm having a party (inside!) and I want to thank these 3 lovely ladies for giving me their attention: Becca at Birthday Girl (where my first party inspirations came from - I mean, she does the best party moodboards!), Heather from Gathering Spriggs (this lady has an amazing taste, especially where vintage is concerned - take a look here as well and don't miss her Etsy shop) and Ilaria from IDA Interior Lifestyle, who has one of the best taste in decor and design that I know of.

A little Valentine sweet table

Aproveitei este dia de sol para por a mesa no jardim. Com a ajuda da Carlota, lá conseguimos tirar a mesa da sala - já montada com os pratos em cima - e, mesmo tendo caído uma perna (da mesa, claro!), conseguimos levar a nossa avante! Como é habitual, a minha ideia inicial para este tema deu muitas voltas e houve muita coisa que tinha idealizado que acabei por não fazer. Estive mesmo para desistir da ideia, por várias razões, mas estava com pena de não aproveitar algumas das peças alusivas a este dia que já tinha juntado. E, como adoro doces, decidi a semana passada fazer esta mesa para um lanche e este foi o resultado final. 

Esta é a minha inspiração para o Dia de S.Valentim - um amor doce, cor-de-rosa e dourado, os cupidos e os postais dos anos 40 (que eu adoro!), as flores (sempre) e os corações...

Bolo: Cupcake

Today was sunny, so I decided to take the table outside. With the help of Carlota, we managed to carry the table already set to the back porch - one of the table leg's fell apart, but we reached our goal successfully! :-) As usual, my initial ideas for this table were a little different, but some things didn't run as planned and  I had already given up the idea of doing it. But I was a little sad, as I had already gathered a few things regarding Valentine's Day, so this week I decided to go along and make it! I love sweets, so it's hard to say no to a good treat!

This is my inspiration for Valentine's Day: a sweet, pink love, with gold touches and a vintage feeling. I love the two postcards that are on the table, they are part of a collection that I have and I can't get enough of staring at them.

É quase certo que um dia vou fazer uma decoração ou festa com estas cores. Até já comecei a juntar os tarecos! É muito forte, mas eu gosto - é inesperada. Cheira a Verão, a vento, calor, ar livre!...

Não há melhor inspiração do que a natureza! Eu gosto. E vocês?

One of these days, I will do a decoration or party in these colors. They're strong and the two of them combined are kind of unexpected - but I like them! I already started gathering some things in lavender and light orange or yellow. It smells like summer, wind, warm weather, fresh air!...

For me, there's no better inspiration than nature. I like these two colors together. Do you?

Another good example of simplicity and happy color combination. A quick and lovely way of turning a cake into a beautiful and appealing sweet. What a nice way to say Happy Birthday!

Hydrangea cupcakes

Adoro flores. Mesmo. Por mim, tinha florzinhas em tudo o que pudesse: lençóis, toalhas, pratos, papel-de -parede, nas jarras, jardim (claro!), enfim, tenho tendência para preferir os motivos floridos, sempre tive. Também não é novidade que gosto de hidranjas - acho que a mesa dos meu aniversário não deixa margem para grandes dúvidas! :) Será talvez das recordações do jardim da minha avó, onde estas flores abundam...

Já falei desta senhora aqui - para além de ter bom gosto, a Glory do blog Glorious Treats faz uns doces com óptimo aspecto e decora mesas de festa com muita atenção ao detalhe. Voltem a visitar o blog dela, encontrarão inspiração deliciosa! Por isso, mais uma vez vos mostro um dos seus trabalhos, estes lindos cupcakes decorados com pétalas de hidranja em açúcar. I guess it's not a mistery that I love flowers. I do. I could live with flowers everywhere: tablecloth, wallpaper, dishes, towels, garden (of course!), well, I have a tendency to choose flower over other patterns. Also, it's no news that I love hydrangeas - I think my birthday dessert table is pretty clear about that! :) Maybe this love comes from my grandmother's garden, where she has lots of these lovely flowers...

I've already written about this lady here -  Glory is the author of Glorious Treats and she does wonderful cakes and cookies, as well as beautiful party table decorations. Visit her blog again, I'm sure you'll find great inspiration and recipes. So today I'm showing you one of her wonderful treats: these hydrangea cupcakes. Aren't they lovely? Sweet New Year's Table

Meus queridos amigos, hoje estou muito feliz! Queria mostrar-vos algumas fotos que a fabulosa Amy Atlas publicou no seu blog e que enquadram o seu regresso em 2011, depois de umas merecidas férias.

Criei esta mesa a pensar no Natal mas, por imprevistos vários, só a consegui ter pronta mais próximo do Ano Novo. A ideia era conjugar a decoração a partir de 3 pratos vermelhos só que, infelizmente, uma daquelas belezas partiu-se (e, com ele, uma dorzinha de alma mas, ok, é só um prato!). Como me encantam as decorações e bolas de Natal, baseei-me nesse tema e nos rosas, dourados e vermelhos para fazer uma mesa de doces para o aniversário do meu marido, que o festeja em Dezembro. Acreditem que comemos aqueles bolos deliciosos todos!! O bolo maior é de amêndoa com ovos moles e vinho do Porto e os cupcakes são de leite condensado e de maçã com especiarias. Se ficaram com fome, já sabem onde os mandei fazer.. na Cupcake. Quis que uns dos cupcakes fossem réplicas das bolas de Natal antigas da minha colecção, e a reprodução foi mesmo fiel!

Espero que gostem. Para mim, esta é uma excelente maneira de começar o novo ano!! E não preciso de repetir que gosto de ouvir a vossa opinião, pois não?

Hi everyone! Today I'm super happy, as this little dessert table that I have styled has been featured in the fabulous Amy Atlas' blog!

I did this decoration thinking of Christmas, but a series of unpredicted events happened along the way, so I had to postpone the celebration to another date, closer to New Year's Eve. Anyway, my husband's birthday is in December, so this was a way of celebrating both the Holidays and his anniversary. I was a little sad because one of the beautiful red ruby cake-stands that I had in mind for this table (I was thinking of using 3 of them) broke but, hey, that's only a plate, so I made an effort to forget that incident and went along with the decoration. I used red, pink and golden, as those were the colors that I used for my Holidays decorations. Do you notice that four of the cupcakes as well as the ornaments on top of the cake are replica of the vintage ones that I collect? I don't want to make you hungry, but let me tell you: that the cake was delicious! Almond with egg custard and port wine - and the cupcakes were also super yummy as well - apple and spices and canned milk. You know where to find them if you want some: at Cupcake.

Well, I guess that's it for today - such a nice way to start a new year! I hope you enjoy this and I don't have to tell you again that I would love to hear your opinion!

My birthday dessert table

Esta é a mesa de sobremesas que fiz para os meus anos. Depois do meu carro ter avariado, quase desistir do sítio onde fiz a festa, ter perdido a máquina fotográfica no meio de tantos caixotes, dos enfeites do tecto cairem ao fim de alguns minutos e da toalha ficar manchada de ferrugem assim que a comecei a passar a ferro, este foi o resultado final. :-) Ou melhor, provisório, pois a mesa ainda não estava completa - faltavam  ainda alguns doces, que só consegui ir buscar mais tarde! À noite os pés doíam-me de ter estado tanto tempo em pé a preparar a decoração do espaço, mas valeu a pena. 

Sempre adorei as cores verde e lilás - lilás é uma cor presente na decoração de minha casa já há muitos anos. É uma cor que, para mim, representa as tonalidades das uvas, do Outono, da época do meu aniversário. E gosto da conjugação do verde com as variantes de roxo, daí ter optado por essa cor nas flores que escolhi - as hidranjas, uma das minhas preferidas. E, como é a mesa do meu aniversário, quis dar-lhe um toque pessoal, adicionando algumas peças decoração de que mais gosto e que fazem parte da minha pequena colecção de milk glass.

Aos meus irmãos e marido agradeço, do fundo do coração, toda a ajuda que me deram. Aos meus queridos amigos, agradeço a presença e alegria. Sem vós, nada disto faria teria sido possível ou faria sentido.

À Francisca, que fez os deliciosos bolos e cupcakes, o meu obrigada por saber reproduzir e interpretar tão bem as minhas ideias.

This is the dessert table that I did for my birthday. My car broke down, I lost my camera in the middle of the boxes, the ceiling decorations started falling apart a few minutes after I hanged  them and the iron stained the tablecloth - so this is the final result! :-) Not the final one, actually, as by the time the photos were taken, some sweets were still on their way to the venue. In the evening, my feet were killing me, as I spent almost 10 hours having the whole place decorated - unfortunately, I don't have pictures of the other decoration details.

I have always loved green and lilac - lilac is a color that is part of my home decor for many years now. I wanted to give the table a little touch of Autumn, the season of my birthday. Otherwise, it would be a flowery Spring table, so that was the reason why I chose my favorite flowers - hydrangeas - in lilac and purple. And because this was my birthday table, I decided to give it another personal touch by adding some of the vintage milk glass vases that belong to my small collection. 

I have to thank my sister and brother as well as my husband for all their help. I also thank Francisca, who did the cakes and cupcakes, for interpreting and turning my ideas into reality. My friends, who had the time to be there with me, thank you so much.

Well, this is my imagination. I hope you like it!

Sweet lilac

Hoje faço 40 anos. Completo 40 primaveras, ou 40 outonos, no caso. Decidi fazer uma mesa de doces em tons de verde e lilás, duas das minhas cores favoritas desde sempre... Também quis acrescentar alguns detalhes vintage, pois eu própria já começo a ser uma antiguidade! :-)

Ainda não tenho as fotos que foram tiradas à luz do dia, até porque perdi a minha máquina fotográfica e muitos pormenores de decoração ficaram por retratar. Por isso, deixo aqui ficar algumas imagens da mesa, que espero que gostem.

 

Today is my 40th birthday. I decided to make my birthday party in lilac and green tones, two of my favorite colors. I also decided to add some vintage details as I myself am becoming a vintage item! :-)


I still don't have the photos that were taken in the day light, as I lost my camera and some other decoration details weren't portraied. So I leave you with these two photos, while I wait for brighter and better ones to publish here. Hope you like them.

We're almost there!...

Este fim-de-semana vou começar a montar a mesa de doces dos meus anos em minha casa, para depois a poder fazer no dia o mais rapidamente possível. Ainda faltam bastantes coisas, por isso preciso mesmo de ver como ficam as peças em cima da mesa, para não ter de perder muito tempo à última da hora.

This weekend I'll be setting my birthday table at home, so that everythings works out and I don't have any drawbacks at the end.

É por estas e por outras que eu adoro mesas de doces!... Olhem-me este trabalho fantástico publicado hoje no blog Ruffled (um dos meus favoritos, by the way), onde nos podemos aperceber, pelos créditos, da quantidade de pessoas envolvidas nesta produção e no excelente resultado final! 

Eu adoro o toque vintage deste tipo de decoração de mesas, os bolos de aspecto caseiro, a mistura de cores e de texturas, com aqueles cake-stands a fazerem roer-me de inveja!... Mas é uma inveja boa!! :-)

It's because of dessert tables like this that I like event styling so much! Look at this wonderful job featured today in one of my favorite blogs, Ruffled. In this production, one does realize how much work is involved and how many people participate in such a lovely job!

I love everything vintage, especially where dessert tables are concerned, and I absolutely love these cakes, the colors and texture, nothing too matchy-matchy... and those beautiful cake-stands that I would die for!!... :-)

Celebrate good times come on!

Olá! Espero que estejam a ter um óptimo Sábado. Hoje aproveitei para tirar umas fotos de algumas peças que estou a juntar para o meu aniversário. Ainda falta definir muita coisa e tenho andado com pouca motivação... Será o cair da folha do Outono ou são mesmo os 40 anos a aproximarem-se? :-)

Os cachos de uva no prato em forma de morango são torrões de açúcar, achei uma delícia!

Hi everyone! Hope you are having a wonderful Saturday! Today I'm showing you some pictures of the things I have been gathering for my birthday party. There's still a long way to go and I haven't been feeling really motivated... maybe it's because of the arrival of Autumn or maybe it's just because I'm turning 40! :-)
