Party inspiration

O tempo passa a correr... A Conchinha já vai fazer 3 anos, está naquela maravilhosa fase da vida em que tudo o que fala é querido e inocente, como só as crianças sabem ser!... Como faz anos a 25 de Março, o tempo não tem ajudado muito (chove sempre no dia de aniversário ou nos dias próximos) - e a minha casa é pequena, com a chuva não se consegue aproveitar o jardim para alargar o espaço. 

Mas, mesmo com as previsões de mau tempo, este ano decidi fazer-lhe uma pequena festinha - e ela anda entusiasmadíssima com o bolo, as pintarolas, o vestido de princesa (que já está a usar)... Só a perspectiva de a fazer feliz, dá-me imenso prazer e alegria!...

A Conchinha quer um bolo da Hello Kitty, com bolinhas. Nada que tenha a ver com o meu conceito habitual de festas infantis, mas tenho que aceitar este desafio. Claro que terei tendência a desvirtuar a decoração da festa, aproximando-a daquilo de que eu gosto mais (e que sei que ela também vai gostar), até porque podemos conduzir e ensinar às crianças o gosto pela beleza, fomentar o conhecimento de coisas novas... e ela ainda não tinha visto as Little Twin Stars! :)

Aqui estão algumas ideias que ando a engendrar apesar de, como já aconteceu, poder mudar tudo à última da hora... 

Time runs so fast... Conchinha is turning 3, she's in that wonderful stage of life where everything she says is cute and innocent, the way only children can be!... As her birthday is on the 25th of March, the weather hasn't helped much (not even on the days close to the date), as it usually rains and my home is too small to gather a nice party - we can't use the garden as an extension.

But, even with the raining forecast, this year I decided to throw her a little party - and she's so excited about the cake, the smarties and the princess dress (that she's been wearing already)! Just the thought of making her happy, gives me so much pleasure and joy!...

Concha wants a Hello Kitty cake, with smarties. Something that is quite far away from my liking, so I might conduct her to something different, equally beautiful, such as the Little Twins Stars theme. We have to show our kids other options, new stuff, so that they can grow their taste based on lots of information.

Here are some ideas that I've been thinking of, not being sure that this will be the final outcome... :)

Sweet Easter

Vocês já sabem o que é a decoração de Páscoa para mim: uma celebração doce, com cores muito suaves e claras, a luz da Primavera e as primeiras flores. Depois, toda a simbologia que as crianças adoram e que enchem de alegria a nossa casa...

É com essas ideias na cabeça que tiro estas fotos. Espero que gostem.

You know how I like Easter decor: a celebration with soft pastel colours, Spring light and its first flowers and all the sweet things that children love...

Sweetness is prettiness

Se soubessem como eu adoro estes suportes para ovo - antigos, da Fábrica de Loiças de Sacavém, são umas peças herdadas da minha mãe e que me lembram a minha infância... Sobraram quatro, dois dos quais estão partidos. Se alguém souber onde se podem encontrar mais, diga-me, por favor. Adorava decorar uma mesa com estes detalhes...

If you could imagine how I love these egg cups - they're vintage pieces made by an old portuguese company and I inherited them from my mother... Such sweet childhood memories!... I have four of them, two of which are broken, so if someone knows where to find similar ones, please tell me - I would love to decorate a table with such beauties...

2012 in review

Um ano de muitas mudanças. Coisas boas e coisas tristes. Fazem parte do crescimento e desta coisa a que chamamos vida. Obrigada por me acompanharem através do blog, das vossas palavras e apoio, mesmo de pessoas que apenas conheço virtualmente. É para isso que tenho o Citrusandorange.

Que 2013 seja um ano pleno de felicidade, amor, saúde, amizade e, por que não, muito dinheiro! :)

2012 has been a year of many changes, some good, some sad. But those are the ways of growth and of this thing called life. I thank you all for being here, your words and support, even coming of those that I only virtually know. That's why I have Citrusandorange.

Once upon a time...

Era uma vez... uma menina muito pequenina! É assim que começam as histórias que invento para distrair a Conchinha. Têm sempre uma lição de moral subjacente, em que a menina pequenina aprende que não deve fazer birras, que deve obedecer à mãe, enfim, o habitual! :)

Foi a contar uma dessas histórias que tirei mais umas fotos à nossa mesa de Natal. Cor-de-rosa como os contos infantis.

 

Once upon a time... there was a little, little girl! That's how I always start the stories that I make up for Conchinha. Always with high morals, the stories tell her how to behave, to obey her mother, well, the usual messages for children!.. :)

I was telling her one of these stories when I took some more photos of our Christmas table. Pink as in the fairy tales...

E aquele dia maravilhoso do ano chegou... Eu desejo-vos um excelente Natal, com muito amor e saúde, junto daqueles que vos são próximos. Abracem-nos, aproveitem os momentos juntos, que tudo passa a correr... Há um ano atrás, estive com a minha mãe pela última vez. Por isso, este dia tem um significado duplamente especial para mim. Aproveitem, divirtam-se, riam, beijem, abracem-se. É Natal!

And the glorious day arrived... I wish you a Merry Christmas, full of love and health, surrounded by your loved ones. Hug them, enjoy this day together, as time flies... A year ago, I saw my mother for the last time. So this date has a double special meaning to me. Enjoy, kiss, laugh, hug, have fun! It's Christmas!

Christmas in gold

Aquela cor típica do Natal e que aquece todos os ambientes. Eu adoro dourado, seja nesta época ou fora dela. E acho-a uma cor muito fotogénica! :)

Numa mesa de Natal, o dourado alegra qualquer tonalidade escolhida: combina lindamente com os cor-de-rosa que tenho optado desde o ano passado, mas também o imagino a brilhar numa mesa com tons lilás ou a contrapor a um verde água, que era uma das cores que eu idealizei para este ano...

Adoro cores, é sempre o meu ponto-de-partida para qualquer decoração!

I love gold, whether it's in the festive season or in another time of the year. It's a typical Christmas colour and I find it very photogenic! :)

On a Christmas table, gold warms up anything around it: it goes wonderfully with pink, the combo that I've been using since last year, but I also imagine it against lilac hues or a mint green, that I wanted to use as this year colours for the Holidays...

I love colour, it's always where I start my decor inspirations from!
