Mixed prints

Já ando a pensar nisto há bastante tempo, mas não tenho conseguido fazê-lo. Os meus fins-de-semana são maioritariamente passados sozinha com as miúdas e, entre trabalhos-de-casa e birras, mal consigo ter tempo para tirar fotografias e terminar algumas das coisas que planeio fazer. Esta é uma delas: pendurar mais algumas imagens na parede do quarto das meninas.

Gosto destas impressões botânicas, algumas delas são páginas de livros antigos. E acho que coordenam lindamente com os papeis-de-parede dos anos 60 e 70, precisamente porque, à primeira vista, não faria sentido... Depois de ver esta ideia no Fjeldborg, vou colar as imagens por cima de um rectângulo de papel-de-parede e pendurá-las depois na parede, que é branca. Parece-vos bem? :)

I've been thinking about this for quite some time now. But I spend the majority of the weekends alone with the two kids, so among homework and tantrums, I can hardly manage to take some photos and finish a couple of projects that I keep in mind. This was one of those little projects: hang a few more images in the girls' bedroom.

I like these botanical prints, some of them are pages of old books. And I think they match the vintage wallpaper perfectly, so after I saw this idea at Fjeldborg, I decided to glue them on top of a rectangular piece of old wallpaper and hang them on the white wall. I like the fact that the images and the wallpaper are from different ages, because it makes no sense at first... that's precisely what I like about this. Wouldn't you agree? :)

Sunday morning

Domingo de manhã e, apesar de me deitar tarde e das meninas ainda estarem a dormir, eu já não consigo descansar mais. Por isso, venho aqui aproveitar o tempo livre e escrever o meu o post semanal, dando-vos conta das minhas andanças, um pouco para além do Facebook, que acaba por ser o meu quick blog durante a semana...

Já vos tinha dito que tenho andando (uma vez mais, é certo) a redecorar o meu pequeno espaço. Desenganem-se aqueles que pensam que é mais rápido decorar uma casa pequena, pois a noção de espaço e de equilíbrio não é, pelo menos para mim, intuitiva. E por vezes cometemos erros, sendo certo também que mudamos os gostos, o que eu acho óptimo! Foi assim que, ao longo dos último anos, fui aprendendo algumas técnicas de ilusionismo decorativo e tento sempre aumentar este pequeno sítio com o recurso a muito branco, espelhos e móveis com as dimensões correctas. A minha sala tem mais luz e mais espaço. E tem um aparador novo. And that makes me happy!

Aqui nas fotos, grande destaque para o aparador - cheio de pratinhos e cake-stands lá dentro! :) Ontem não consegui muito mais do que isto, pois estavam cá 3 amigas da Carlota e eu tinha que lhes pedir constantemente para sairem da frente da objectiva. Não liguem muito para a decoração em cima do móvel, pois ainda não parei para pensar e decidir o que lá quero por. Para já, claro, pois gosto de ir variando...

 

 

 

Depois andei a experimentar as cores para a festa de aniversário da Carlota e continuo indecisa... Quem quiser dar a sua opinião, já sabe, é muito bem-vinda!

E finalmente mostro-vos o papel-de-parede vintage que comprei para forrar o hall de entrada. Espero que gostem dele tanto quanto eu. :)

Sunday morning and I can't sleep any longer, although I went to bed very late last night and the girls are still asleep. So I'm coming here in this free time for my weekly post, besides the Facebook page where I actually quick blog during the week...

I've already told you quite a few times that I am redecorating my living room, as I'm always looking for ways to give this small home the illusion of a bigger space. I've learned along the way that we always make mistakes in terms of decor and our taste changes - hopefully always for the better, as we get to see lots of beautiful houses and get inspired by it. Some of the decoration tricks that I've learned are pretty basic - such as mirrors for space and light reflection, lots of whites in small spaces and correct dimensions of furniture, as large pieces don't fit rightly in tiny rooms. I always have a problem with Ikea furniture, as I need made by measure more often, to try to take advantage of every little corner...

My living room seems bigger, has more light and a new sideboard. And that makes me happy! :)

Here in the photos, a great feature to the sideboard - full of plates and cake-stands on the inside! :) But these were the only pictures that I've managed to take, as Carlota had 3 of her friends sleeping over so I had to keep asking them to get away from the camera. Also the display isn't definite, as I still haven't thought much on how to decorate it. And I like to change things often, so no one knows how the sideboard will look on the next photos! 

I also experimented with colors for Carlota's birthdat party, I'm not still very sure on what to do. Opinions are more than welcome!

And finally I'm showing you the vintage wallpaper that I bought for my home entrance - I hope you like it as much as I do.

Sing little bird!

Gosto de passarinhos como elementos decorativos. E gosto de gaiolas antigas, para decoração - com velas, acho que ficam lindas! Não gosto de ver o animal preso, por isso os únicos pássaros verdadeiros que vejo são aqueles que visitam o meu jardim e me deixam ficar a vê-los bicar na relva.

Aqui estão alguns exemplos de uma das minhas 724.396 wish lists, esta relacionada com aves. Coisas  lindas, não são? Eu estou fascinada com aqueles espelhos-gaiola.

Zara Home

I like birds as a decoration item. And I love old birdcages - with candles, I find them gorgeous! I don't like to see the animal on a cage, so the only real birds that I get to see are the ones who stop at my garden and let me watch them pick the grass.

Here are some examples of one of my 724.396 wish lists, this time under the subject "birds". Beautiful stuff, isn't it? I am totally smitten with those birdacage mirrors!...

And what about you? Which one of these items do you prefer?

High performance

Papéis-de-parede de alto impacto atraem-me. Por isso gosto de os ver em painéis, assimétricos, ou aqueles menos comuns, tipo murais. E, como reparei na imagem deste sofá antigo centrado com uns rolos de papel pendurados na parede por trás, lembrei-me do papel digital da Cath Kidston que, apesar de ser noutra cor (na foto, pelo menos - penso que o têm noutras tonalidades), teria um efeito muito semelhante numa composição deste género... Os grandes pormenores fazem mesmo toda a diferença e eu imagino um sofá com este pano de fundo num hall de entrada ou uma mesa encostada à parede, a contrastar com o painel, numa sala cheia de luz...

Cath Kidston

I love high impact wallpapers. That's why I like them assymetrical, in panels or murals, maybe the least common ways. So when I saw this old sofa enhanced by the panels behind it, I remembered Cath Kidston's digital wallpaper above and, although the photo shows it in a different background color, it could be used in a similar decoration... These big details make the whole difference and I can imagine a sofa with this kind of setting in an entrance hall or maybe a table close to the wall back against this wallpaper, in a room filled with light...

Que eu gosto de papel-de-parede, já não é novidade. Novidade para mim é este papel que hoje encontrei (aliás, que me foi dado a encontrar!) e pelo qual fiquei logo apaixonada - so cottage! Adorei a ideia e os detalhes da impressão e já o consigo imaginar numa das divisões da casa que um dia irei ter...

It's no news that I love wallpaper. What is new to me is this one that I found today (actually, that I was told to take a look at) and that I instantly fell in love with - so cottage! I loved the idea and the detail of its print and I can imagine it in a room in the house of my dreams...

Retro wallpaper

Retro: adoro. Fetiche: papel-de-parede dos anos 60 e 70. Com os florais sempre presentes e a começar pelas cores que mais facilmente consigo conjugar - os verdes e os azuis. A loja dinamarquesa Retrovilla tem destes papeis, e não só. Às vezes dou por mim a fazer window shopping, encher o cesto das compras, desistir da ideia quando vejo o total e ficar a sonhar com possíveis utilizações para os imensos padrões... O meu cestinho fica cheio cheio! :)

Os desenhos daquela época são um bocadinho too much - mas eu gosto daquela ingenuidade, acho-os quase infantis! Na minha opinião, a sua utilização deve ter presente o fio condutor que identifico em muitas casas nórdicas: os pequenos detalhes - numa parede, em portas de armários, tampos de bancos e por aí.

Retro: I love it. Fetish: 60's and 70's wallpaper. With floral motifs and blues and green as my favorite. Danish shop Retrovilla sells these kind of wallpapers and sometimes I find myself window shopping there, filling my cart with lots of papers and giving up the idea after seeing the total - and then I dream about it and how would I use them... My shopping cart gets really full! :)

Patterns from these decades are a little too much and I find them kind of naive, but I that's what I like about them. In my opinion, one should use them in small details - on a wall, in the doors of a closet, on a bench - those are maybe the most common examples that I see in some scandinavian houses and they really know how to use them.

Hoje a Holly Becker, do Decor8, fez um artigo sobre um blog que acompanho desde que o conheci através do Fryd+Design (aqui). Não quis deixar de partilhar convosco 5 das ideias que me inspiraram na maravilhosa casa da Ingrid, do blog Fjeldborg (Noruega, uma vez mais...). Até já mandei vir uns papéis-de-parede vintage para a minha próxima casa (quando chegarem, eu mostro!!)! Não vejo a hora de ter uma casa maior!!!


Holly Becker, from Decor8, did a wonderful post today about this blog that I have also been following since I saw it first time on Fryd+Design (here). I would like to share with you 5 of the ideias that inspired me most in the lovely home of Ingrid (Fjeldborg - Norway, once again...). In fact, I have already ordered some vintage wallpaper for my next house (I'll show you when I get it!). Can't wait to find a new home...

Chinoiserie wallpaper

Gosto muito de papéis-de-parede e já escrevi algumas vezes neste blog acerca dos trabalhos que a Surfaceview faz. Um dos motivos de papel que sempre me atraiu são as chinoiserie, dos quais esta firma tem alguns exemplares lindos... Estas imagens fazem parte de pinturas do museu Victoria and Albert e ando apaixonada por elas há uns tempos. Acho que ficavam lindamente no meu hall de entrada!

O verde e o rosa chamaram-me a atenção...

E quem não gostaria de trabalhar num escritório assim??

O site está muito bem construído, a colecção de imagens é enorme e lindíssima e podem-se simular online os murais, estores, etc. nas várias divisões da casa. Acho que é uma opção a considerar para quem queira ter paredes únicas ...

I love wallpaper and Surfaceview has been mentioned several times in this blog. I've always liked chinoiserie wallpaper, of which this company has some good examples... These images belong to the Victoria and Albert museum and I think they would look great in my home entrance!

I particularly like the green and pink ones.

Their site is excellent and you can even see the images you choose on their roomsets. I find these wallpapers a great option for those who want something unique in their walls...

Como vai querer redecorar o quarto e pediu algumas ideias, deixo ficar aqui umas dicas de uns papéis de parede que acho lindos e que se podem usar num quarto de menina ou de menino...

Gosto particularmente do papel com os pinheirinhos e veados, pois tem uma base mais neutra, podendo as camas diferenciarem-se pelas cores das cobertas.

She wants to redecorate the children's bedroom and she asked me for some decor ideas, so I suggested these wallpapers, who work well both in boys and girls rooms...

I particularly like the pine trees and deer wallpaper, as they provide a more neutral background and she can play with the colour of the bed covers.
