Happy Easter!

Desde criança que adoro ninhos. Lembro-me de os encontrar, muito raramente, no jardim da minha avó, e adorar pensar nos passarinhos que ali viviam. Por isso, acho lindos os ninhos de Páscoa, com os enfeites típicos desta época e, preferencialmente, cheios de doces!

Aqui decorei um dos ninho com umas latas antigas e fiz um centro de mesa com uma peça vintage, cheia de chocolatinhos... Também podem ver algumas das minhas fotos de Páscoa na revista Gatherings Magazine - Spring Issue 2013 (nas páginas 72-74). Uma revista fantástica, vale a pena visitarem! :)

I love birds nests ever since I was a kid. I sometimes found some on my grand mother's garden and I remember imagining the little birds living in such a cute little space... So when Easter comes, I find decoration with nests a lovely way to bring happiness into our home.

I decorated the first nest with a few Easter vintage tins and I also used the yellow bird ceramic centerpiece, filled with chocolates. You can see some of my Easter photos on Gatherings Magazine - Spring Issue (pages 72-74). A wonderful magazine that is worth a visit! :)

Party inspiration

O tempo passa a correr... A Conchinha já vai fazer 3 anos, está naquela maravilhosa fase da vida em que tudo o que fala é querido e inocente, como só as crianças sabem ser!... Como faz anos a 25 de Março, o tempo não tem ajudado muito (chove sempre no dia de aniversário ou nos dias próximos) - e a minha casa é pequena, com a chuva não se consegue aproveitar o jardim para alargar o espaço. 

Mas, mesmo com as previsões de mau tempo, este ano decidi fazer-lhe uma pequena festinha - e ela anda entusiasmadíssima com o bolo, as pintarolas, o vestido de princesa (que já está a usar)... Só a perspectiva de a fazer feliz, dá-me imenso prazer e alegria!...

A Conchinha quer um bolo da Hello Kitty, com bolinhas. Nada que tenha a ver com o meu conceito habitual de festas infantis, mas tenho que aceitar este desafio. Claro que terei tendência a desvirtuar a decoração da festa, aproximando-a daquilo de que eu gosto mais (e que sei que ela também vai gostar), até porque podemos conduzir e ensinar às crianças o gosto pela beleza, fomentar o conhecimento de coisas novas... e ela ainda não tinha visto as Little Twin Stars! :)

Aqui estão algumas ideias que ando a engendrar apesar de, como já aconteceu, poder mudar tudo à última da hora... 

Time runs so fast... Conchinha is turning 3, she's in that wonderful stage of life where everything she says is cute and innocent, the way only children can be!... As her birthday is on the 25th of March, the weather hasn't helped much (not even on the days close to the date), as it usually rains and my home is too small to gather a nice party - we can't use the garden as an extension.

But, even with the raining forecast, this year I decided to throw her a little party - and she's so excited about the cake, the smarties and the princess dress (that she's been wearing already)! Just the thought of making her happy, gives me so much pleasure and joy!...

Concha wants a Hello Kitty cake, with smarties. Something that is quite far away from my liking, so I might conduct her to something different, equally beautiful, such as the Little Twins Stars theme. We have to show our kids other options, new stuff, so that they can grow their taste based on lots of information.

Here are some ideas that I've been thinking of, not being sure that this will be the final outcome... :)

Sweet Easter

Vocês já sabem o que é a decoração de Páscoa para mim: uma celebração doce, com cores muito suaves e claras, a luz da Primavera e as primeiras flores. Depois, toda a simbologia que as crianças adoram e que enchem de alegria a nossa casa...

É com essas ideias na cabeça que tiro estas fotos. Espero que gostem.

You know how I like Easter decor: a celebration with soft pastel colours, Spring light and its first flowers and all the sweet things that children love...

Duas cores suaves, lindas, femininas, românticas... Uma combinação de cores que eu adoro. E, claro, o  habitual toque de dourado... É lindo, não é? :)

Season's delight

Imenso calor lá fora mas, cá em casa, estamos mortinhos por comer castanhas assadas - às quais eu gosto de juntar manteiga, depois de descascadas e bem quentinhas!

Eu e a Carlota fomos apanhar ramos de árvores, para enfeitar as jarras de cá de casa, e acrescentamos umas bagas do meu jardim. Os fins-de-semana passam a correr, gostava de ter mais tempo durante a semana para poder apreciar estas pequenas coisas da vida...

Too hot outside, but here at home all we can think of are roasted chestnuts - to which I add butter while still warm and after peeling them. 

Me and Carlota gathered some tree branches and berries from the garden and made floral arrangements for the living room. The weekends run by, I wish I had more time during the week to take pleasure from these little things...

Old memories.... We're selling some of my mother's beautiful pieces, and this is one of my favourite: an old enamel bowl. We have some more enamel kitchenware, but I still didn't have the time to take pictures (hopefully tomorrow I will).

September's here again

Este é um texto sentimental. Um texto do fundo do coração - do meu coração, onde tantas pessoas vivem. A minha mãe morreu em Janeiro passado. Ela era brilhante, esperta, amiga, mas também era uma mulher de luas e muito crítica. Às vezes adorava-a, outras vezes ressentia-me das coisas que dizia e fazia. Ela era capaz de me enfurecer, mas também a admirava. E admiro. Para mim, ela vive no presente. Por isso, quando arranjei estas flores numa jarra que lhe pertencia, lembrei-me dela e de como ela gostava das suas coisas. Das suas loiças antigas, as colecções, os livros. Lembrei-me da sua vida. Mother, I love you like I never told you.

This is a sentimental post. One from the heart - my heart, where so many people live. My mother passed away last January. She was brilliant, witty, kind, but also moody and critical. Sometimes I loved her, sometimes I resented the things she did and said. She made me angry, but I also admired her. And I still do. To me, she lives in the present. So when I arranged these autumn flowers in a vase that belonged to her, I thought of her and of how she loved her little things. Her vintage china, her collections and books. It reminded me of her life. Mother, I love you like I never told you.

Day dreaming...

2012 começa com muitos planos e ideias - acho que este ano ainda vamos ficar mais próximas, pois estou cheia de ideias em que vocês irão participar! Espero que se queiram juntar a mim nas novas aventuras que antecipo. Já fui abrindo um pouco do véu em conversa, através do Facebook, mas por favor continuem a dar as vossas ideias e sugestões, pois são sempre muito importantes - vocês já sabem que sim! :)

Para isso, gostava de continuar a ouvir e ler as vossas opiniões. Há um conjunto de amigas que tenho conhecido na blogosfera e que são muito activas nessa partilha de ideias - a Marcela Macias de Hadzimehmedi, Rita Malvar, Diane Katsuyoshi-Phillips, Isabel Coimbra, Ana Burmester Baptista, Sofia Lessa, Ana Pires, DJ, Joana Vieira da Silva, Tatica, Sofia Vasconcelos, entre muitas e muitas outras queridas pessoas - a todas vós, o meu muito obrigada, pois ao partilharem generosamente os vossos pensamentos, ajudam-me a ir de encontro àquilo de que mais gostam neste mundo de coisas bonitas! :)

Este Sábado mostro-vos a nossa mesa de almoço: uma conjugação de loiças da Cath Kidston, com uma toalha antiga que já passeou aqui pelo blog muitas vezes e umas flores num frasco de vidro Ball Mason. Corners of my home

Primeiro fim-de-semana de Outono a sério. Nem quero acreditar que faço 41 anos para a semana e que esteve tanto calor até tão próximo do meu aniversário!...

Hoje de manhã tirei algumas fotos de alguns recantos de cá de casa. Esta semana montamos umas estantes no meu quarto - não ficaram lá muito bem, a madeira está empenada e, apesar de gostar e de lá querer estantes, ainda não encontrei as ideais. Aqui há uns tempos vi estes bonequinhos magnéticos numa fotografia e lembrei-me de que deveriam ficar bem no meu quarto, com os tons de vermelho que por lá predominam... Aquela moldura castanha também deve mudar de cor brevemente... :)

Na sala já só me apetece começar com as decorações de Natal - eu sei, falta ainda algum tempo, mas desde Setembro que penso nisso - nas maravilhosas bolas de Natal, que eu tanto adoro, nos arranjos que quero fazer com as miúdas, nas cores que vou escolher este ano... Queria muito ter uma taça de pé, branca, e fazer um arranjo com bolas e outras peças de vidro. Mas as que eu encontro e de que gosto são muito caras... Bem, com a ajuda da Carlota, já tenho um pequeno detalhe natalício na sala:

E daqui a pouco seguimos para o Parque da Cidade, para apanhar umas folhas que a Carlota vai usar para fazer uma vassoura para a aula de Inglês - o tema é o Halloween. Olhem só as cores do nosso parque no Outono... são lindas!...

This is the first real Autumn weekend here at Porto. Next week I'm turning 41 and I can't believe we've had such hot days so close to my birthday!


Well, this morning I took a few pictures of some corners of my home. We now have two new shelves in my bedroom, but they don't look that good, as the wood is warped. Still have to find the right ones... One of these days I saw a picture of those old magnetic kissing couples and I thought they would look good in my room - so here they are! That wooden frame is turning another colour pretty soon... :)

I feel like starting Christmas decor in the living room, although it's a little too early - don't know what's gotten into me this year, but I've been thinking about it since September! I love ornaments, especially vintage ones, and this year I'm planning on having some cute Christmas details in the girls' room - their little Christmas - so I can't stop thinking about it - the colours that I'll be using, sweets, beautiful displays... I also would love to have a footed plate in which I could display the ornaments, but the ones that I like are too expensive... Sooo, with a help from Carlota, we have this small deer in the living room, which is a nice Christmasy detail! :)

Conchinha also left her mark with the loose shoes and teddy bear... and I left mine, with another Mason jar display and a couple of plain bowls that I love.

We'll be heading off to the main city park in a while and I leave you a photo of its beautiful Fall colours...

Pansies {or perfect-love} ✿

Adoro amores-perfeitos. É uma flor cujo nome se aplica às minhas filhas. Para o ano vou semeá-los no jardim. Ainda por cima, ficam lindos nas cores que escolhi para o quarto delas - amarelo e roxo. Usei um papel-de-parede para forrar a base que a Carlota usa na secretária. Com uns lindos amores-perfeitos...

I love pansies. In portuguese, they are called "perfect-love", which is a name that totally applies to my little cherished ones... Next year I will plant some in the garden. I love their colours, and they came in yellow and purple quite often, which are the colours that I chose for the girls' bedroom. I used some vintage wallpaper to cover a cardboard that Carlota uses at their desk. With beautiful pansies...

Gatherings Magazine

Eu conheci a Heather quando, nas minhas navegações pelo Etsy, encontrei a sua linda loja, a Gathering Vintage. Na altura, fiquei apaixonada pelo jarro turquesa e por uma toalha antiga, com rosas, que decidi então comprar... 

Adoro este jarro, já o devem ter visto muitas vezes aqui pelo blog. E criou-se logo uma empatia entre mim e a Heather que, pouco tempo depois de nos conhecermos virtualmente, deu-me a alegria de dedicar no seu blog um post acerca do meu Citrusandorange (aqui). Desde essa altura que não paro de seguir as andanças desta senhora que, tal como eu, tem um amor por peças antigas e pela decoração vintage. Visitem o Heather Spriggs, não tenho dúvidas de que vão gostar!

A Heather lançou a Gatherings Magazine em Julho passado, na sua edição de Verão e ontem acabou de lançar a revista de Outono, onde a minha humilde casinha é uma das ilustres convidadas! :) Fiquei super emocionada quando vi as fotos, adorei toda a revista e o meu coração enche-se de alegria por poder partilhar as coisas de que gosto de uma forma tão bonita!..♥ A revista está óptima e adorei os pormenores dos embrulhos para os presentes.

 

Agora já estou em pulgas para que saia a edição de Natal (Holiday Gift Guide) e a edição de Inverno (All White Issue). :)

I met Heather on one of my Etsy journeys - just bumped into her lovely shop, Gathering Vintage. I fell in love with the vintage turquoise coffe pot and the roses tablecloth, and decided on buying them then.

You have seen this coffee pot on lots of pictures here at the blog, I love it! I immediatly connected with Heather, as we both love vintage and romantic decor, and it was a real pleasure when she kindly dedicated a post to my Citrusandorange at her blog (here). Since then I've been following around this lovely lady throughout the web, as I love her taste and all the things she shares are pure beauty. You have to visit Heather Spriggs, I'm sure you'll love it!

Last July Heather launched Gatherings Magazine, the Summer issue, and yesterday the Fall issue came out, where yours truly is a humble guest! :) I was super excited and when I saw the photos I was really touched - I'm super happy to share the things that I love in such a pretty way!... {Details of the girls bedroom}

Olá, queridos amigos! O quarto da Carlota e da Conchinha continua um caos, mas já fomos arrumando algumas coisas... Não vejo a hora de o pintar e mudar o papel-de-parede! 

Algumas das estantes de parede do Ikea que já montamos (aquela parede vai ficar branca) - ainda não decidi o que fazer em relação ao assunto prateleiras, pois tudo o que envolve furar as paredes põe-me sempre a pensar... Para além de elas terem montanhas de livros, têm também muitos brinquedos bonitos que eu gostava de expor, mas não quero uma parede só com estantes. Vamos ver o que sai daqui! :)

Hello, my dear friends! The girls bedroom is still chaotic, but we've managed to assemble these Ikea shelves - the wall is going to be painted in white. I can't wait to have the new wallpaper and the light that comes from white walls!

I still haven't decide on what to do about the shelves issue - what kind and how many - as they have thousands of books and beautiful toys that I would like to display as well, but I don't want to fill the walls only with shelves... Let's see how this is going to turn out! :)

Old memories...

Found this tray in my messy garage, where I keep stuff that I don't use - for now, I'll use it when I have a bigger home. It's a silver plated tray that belonged to my grand mother. I like trays - I told you before. And I like candles (told you before as well). The flickering light reflects on the silver and it shines beautifully in the night...

My life in roses

Olá, queridos amigos! Como foi o vosso fim-de-semana? O meu foi o menos produtivo possível: só mesmo tentar descansar e andar às voltas com o HTML do blogger, que é algo que eu adoro - fico sempre com a sensação de que não estou a fazer as coisas correctamente, pois a linguagem informática é algo que eu considero tudo menos inteligível... Tentei adicionar os botões do like na zona dos comentários, mas acho que não tive muito sucesso - ou o Facebook não está a funcionar, ou não segui os passos do tutorial correctamente, pois clica-se no like e, passado uns segundos, desaparece... Se alguém me conseguir ajudar, fico imensamente grata! Ai, quem me dera ter um web ou blog designer ou qualquer pessoa do género assim à mão de semear, que me fizesse tudo sem me obrigar a gastar os poucos neurónios que me restam! :) Como é que as minhas amigas bloggers dão a volta à coisa?

Actualização: acho que já está a funcionar...

Hi everyone! How was your weekend? Mine was quite unproductive: I just tried to get some rest and I've been dealing with blogger HTML issues - which is an activity that I really dislike, as I always get this  feeling that I'm doing something wrong... I tried to add Facebook like buttons next to the comments area, but either Facebook is having problems or I have missed some of the tutorial steps. If you click on like, it disapears after a second... Can somebody help me, I'd be really thankful! Oh God, how I wish I could have a web or blog designer or such a kind of person next to me, to help me whenever I need, without me having to go through all these tutorials in english, wasting my few neuronions left... :) How do my blogger friends overcome these issues?

Update: I think it's already working...
